Backpack to Glen Aulin: Explore Tuolumne's Beauty July 9-12, 2015
Enjoy the splendor of summer in Yosemite's high country during this one-of-a-kind backpacking trip, led by experienced naturalist guide and author, Suzanne Swedo. You'll backpack along the edge of the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne and see waterfalls, flowers, granite formations and the crystal-clear Tuolumne River. Suzanne will share insider information about the flora and fauna that make their home in the high country while you enjoy the dramatic scenery in this beautiful corner of the park.
The adventure kicks off with an evening get-together at 7:30 pm on Thursday, July 9, in Tuolumne Meadows Campground to discuss trail preparations, safety guidelines and Leave No Trace ethics. The first day on the trail begins Friday morning, with a pleasant descent out of Tuolumne Meadows, following the river to arrive at basecamp in majestic Glen Aulin. On day two, you can relax near camp or visit Waterwheel Fall. The last day you will ascend back to Tuolumne Meadows where you can recount your adventures with a group of new friends.
In addition to camping during the trip, the Experience Package also includes camping before and after, on July 9 & 12 at Tuolumne Meadows Campground in Tuolumne Meadows. Camping before and after is not required to participate. Also included is park entry, as needed, along with your wilderness permit and bear canister rental. Upgrade your accommodations to stay at Tuolumne Lodge on July 12 only, available up to 45 days prior to your trip. Information about upgrading your package will be emailed after you sign up.
